Thread: Will heat cause corals to close?

Cool Will heat cause corals to close?

I only have a stick on exterior thermometer and my guess is that it is not too accurate. That being said the temp is reading 82 but normally around 78 and everything is closed/closing. Nothing else has changed to my knowledge. Will heat affect the corals like this? TIA, Nancy

Live rock and sand from the 55, kept a close eye on my parameters......I thought. What do you know that I don't.....(you know what a goof I am)? Tank was set up end of may, corals are a few small pieces - adoptees from TMAC.

Wouldn't be from the heat. Before I got a chiller my tank would get up to 88 and the corals were absolutely fine. What are your water parameters?

there are several things that can cause corals to close up. something is pickin at them, rapid heat increase, parameters are off , tank cycle, heavy metals (copper, brass)
i would do a test on everything an go from there
